The designers behind F9 Productions made a tiny house. A very cool tiny house. Slade Glass was offered the chance to help with the window wall. The design provides for taking in vast views and letting in light with an option for shading the window wall. All the best elements were put in the design, and the results have landed F9 Productions a spot on HGTV’s show Tiny House Big Living which will air August 10th.

Window Screen Repair and Replacement

In patio doors, screens, windows by ann

We are lucky to live in a state that has cool mornings and cool nights during the summer months, and this is the perfect time of year to open up the house and let the fresh air in. It is also the time of year to have your window screens and patio door screens repaired or replaced. New screens not only look nice from the outside, they keep nature’s creatures where they belong- in the great outdoors, not in your living room.

Slade Glass Co., offers screen repair, and when needed, custom crafted new screens. The most cost effective choice is to bring your screens into either our Boulder or Longmont locations for repair. However, if this option is not the one for you, we can also send one of our crew out to measure for new screens, or pick-up for repair in our shop.  And we offer installation service when needed. We are happy to offer an estimate over the phone, so don’t hesitate to call us.  All you need is the screen size and what choice mesh material you desire.  Most screens are made using black or gray fiber mesh, but silver wire and pet-mesh (heavy duty) are also available.

Have your screens repaired or replaced today, and open your windows and patio doors with confidence- Fresh air in, critters out!

5 Ideas for Decorating with Mirrors

In mirrors by ann

Most of us look into a mirror every day and don’t consider all the benefits of incorporating mirrors into our decor.

Here are 5 ideas for using mirrors to enhance your interior and outdoor design.

1) As a focal point in a room- hung above a fireplace mantel, on a bookcase, or in front of a window.

2) Use on a covered patio to help it seem more like an actual room.

3) A wall of mirrors in different shapes and sizes.
4) Hang or lean a mirror against a wall to make a tight, smaller space expand.
5) In the garden.

ShowerGuard Glass Protection

In residential glass, shower enclosures by ann

Capture

The concept behind ShowerGuard is to stop corrosion of the glass before it can get started.

Standard shower glass over time, can become cloudy, given heat, humidity and hard water. You can take steps to help lessen the effects and slow down the process, but nothing will stop the glass from eventually becoming dull and looking dirty.

ShowerGuard permanently seals the surface of the glass resulting in lasting beauty and less maintenance. The patented ion-beam technology process results in an invisible protective coating that is fused to the surface of the glass creating a smooth surface that is highly resilient to the dirt, soap and hard water buildup that dulls and etches regular glass.

ShowerGuard never breaks down and never needs to be reapplied, and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Make sure to have us add in the ShowerGuard option when we prepare your shower enclosure proposal. The long term benefits of adding ShowerGuard, are well worth the investment.

For more information about ShowerGuard, you can visit their website by clicking here.

Cleaning Anodized Aluminum Shower Enclosures

In glass doors, repair and maintenance, shower enclosures by ann

Most of the silver, gold, brushed nickel or satin silver metal hardware and components of shower enclosures are anodized aluminum. Aluminum is lightweight and non-rusting and is anodized to give it color and to seal it against corrosion and pitting. Some glass cleaners can damage the anodizing which then leaves the aluminum at risk for pitting. Once the finish is damaged, it cannot be undone. White spots can result from using alkaline and phosphoric acids that are found in many cleaners. Read labels on all cleaning products before using them on your shower glass, frames and hardware. What might be good for cleaning glass, can be harmful to the framing and hardware.

The best practice is to wipe down the frame and hardware after each shower use, drying off the metal surface. This will reduce water spots from forming and in the long run, reduce the need for cleaning with products.
